How-it-works FAQ · Sprint B
Are Amway BSM / Tools Required? FAQ
Short answer: No. Business Support Materials (BSM) and third-party “tools” are optional. Amway’s Rules of Conduct / Quality Assurance Standards frame BSM as voluntary—not a condition of being an IBO or buying Amway products. This FAQ cites official sources. No earnings claims about tools or BSM.

One decision: understand that BSM/tools are optional, know Corp vs Approved Provider at a high level, and use Amway’s official Rules/documents—not pressure—to decide what (if anything) you buy.

FAQ: Are BSM or tools required?
Q1. Does Amway require me to buy BSM or “tools”?
A: No. Amway does not require purchase of Business Support Materials. Market Rules language (example, Amway Singapore RoC Section 7) states clearly:
While Amway does not require anybody to purchase BSM, ABOs may decide that they can play a useful role in building a profitable business or achieving goals. BSM are entirely optional…
And:
An ABO cannot be burdened or obligated to purchase BSM or placed at any disadvantage by an upline or downline as a result of choosing not to purchase or sell BSM.
U.S. Amway Insider / support messaging likewise describes Approved Provider offerings as always optional and backed by return policies required by Amway rules.
Always verify the current U.S. Rules of Conduct on amway.com/rules-of-conduct for your contract language.
Q2. What counts as BSM?
A: Under Amway Rules, Business Support Materials (BSM) generally means products and services designed to solicit/educate Prospects or customers, or to support/train/motivate/educate IBOs—or that use Amway trademarks / imply affiliation—such as books, sites, audio/video, rallies, meetings, and similar aids (see Rule 7 definitions on Amway’s Rules pages). “Tools” in everyday speech often means the same bucket: training platforms, event tickets, lead systems, printed kits, etc.
Q3. Can someone tell me I must buy tools to join or stay?
A: That conflicts with Amway’s optional framing. Rules also restrict requiring Prospects to purchase anything in connection with registration (see Rules on prohibited sponsoring practices). If you feel pressured, document it and contact Amway compliance / Customer Care for your market—this site is an IBO site, not Amway Corp.
Q4. Do IBOs earn Amway income from selling BSM/tools?
A: Do not expect Amway Plan earnings from BSM sales. Rules language in markets such as Singapore’s Section 7 states ABOs shall not receive compensation, incentives, or benefits from the sale of BSM and may sell BSM only at cost / within approved pricing. U.S. Rule 7 structures authorization via Amway review and/or Approved Providers under Accreditation Plus—still not Amway product-sales income.
This page makes no income, lifestyle, or pin claims. For Amway product-sales income literacy, read the official Income Disclosure Statement—we do not invent averages here.
Q5. What’s the light map: Amway Corp vs Approved Provider vs random third party?
A: High-level only:
| Source | What it is | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Amway Corporation | Products, IBO Contract, Rules of Conduct, QAS, official training Amway publishes, IDS, Customer Care | Contract/Rules apply; product purchase is your choice as Customer/IBO—not “buy tools to exist” |
| Approved Provider (AP) | For-profit companies accredited/licensed by Amway to offer optional training/support (per Amway Business Reference Guide / Insider explainers) | Optional. Amway does not require AP purchases. Enhanced Amway Promise notes commonly say APs agree not to charge New IBOs in the first contract year—confirm current Promise docs |
| Unauthorized / random “tools” | Materials not authorized under Rule 7 / QAS | Risk: may violate Rules if used as BSM with Amway marks or Prospects; do not assume Amway endorsement |
Amway Business Reference Guide (US) states Approved Provider products/services are optional and that Amway does not require IBOs to purchase from any Approved Provider.
Q6. Can BSM be sold to Prospects / non-IBOs?
A: Market Rules commonly forbid selling BSM to non-ABOs/IBOs and forbid framing BSM purchase as required to become an ABO/IBO. Check your market’s Rule 7 / QAS for the exact line.
Q7. If I do buy optional BSM, what should I see?
A: Expect clear voluntary / optional notices, Amway authorization where required, and refund rights per QAS / BSM refund policy. Rules examples require written emphasis that purchase is strictly voluntary and refundable per policy. No one may guarantee success from techniques in BSM.
Q8. Is this site “official Amway training”?
A: No. See the disclosure. It is an Independent Business Owner site. For binding rules, use Amway’s documents.
